Meeting Tiffani Thiessen: My Signature Moment

I recently had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Signature Brands launch event hosted by Safeway in Los Angeles, and I jumped at the chance. The day brought together 25 talented bloggers for an immersive experience exploring the new Signature family of brands from Albertsons Companies. From tasting a wide variety of Signature products to cooking alongside actress and food enthusiast Tiffani Thiessen, the event showcased how accessible, high-quality grocery items can inspire creative home cooking.

Signature Brands offers a broad portfolio — more than 4,000 items across multiple categories including Signature Select, Signature Kitchens, Signature Farms, Signature Cafe, Signature Home and Signature Care. The line covers staples such as soups, fresh produce, coffee, juices, baked goods, sauces, quality meats, paper products and laundry essentials, all priced for everyday affordability. These products are widely available at Safeway and other Albertsons family grocery stores, and each product comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

The event took place at a stunning private estate in the Hollywood Hills surrounded by lemon trees, fresh flowers and lush greenery. We began outdoors with an avocado toast bar and fresh orange juice and coffee from the Signature Select line. I was impressed by the variety of sugar-free creamers, including hazelnut, caramel and vanilla — small touches that elevate everyday coffee moments.

The light-filled home looked like it was lifted from a magazine; later I learned the owner is a photographer with a lovely eye for design, which explained the beautiful, intentional details throughout the house.

After mingling, we moved inside for a cooking demonstration with Executive Chef Jeff Anderson of Albertsons Companies Culinary Kitchens. Chef Jeff’s passion for food was evident from the moment he started. He introduced several Signature Cafe soups — including tomato basil bisque, white bean and kale, chunky chicken noodle, and my favorite, cauliflower and cheddar. He showed creative ways to use these soups beyond bowls: cauliflower and cheddar makes an excellent base for a pasta sauce over zucchini noodles or a creamy topping for baked potatoes.

Chef Jeff also demonstrated his Signature Chicken Marinade and explained how easy it is to customize — swap the marmalade for your favorite jam or change the heat level with sriracha. This versatile marinade pairs beautifully with chicken or fish and can be used for quick weeknight meals like baked chicken over rice or fish tacos with fresh fruit salsa.

Chef Jeff’s Signature Chicken Marinade
Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Signature Kitchens orange marmalade
  • 1–3 Tbsp sriracha (to taste)
  • 1/2 cup Signature Kitchens soy sauce
  • 1 cup Signature Farms 100% orange juice
  • 2 Tbsp Signature Kitchens Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Whisk all ingredients together and use immediately or refrigerate for later. This simple combination delivers bright, balanced flavor and works well as a marinade, glaze or finishing sauce.

After the demo we rolled up our sleeves to make flatbread pizzas using fresh dough and Signature toppings. Choosing from tomato-basil pasta sauce, creamy alfredo, pesto, fresh cheeses, roasted squash, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted peppers, bacon and arugula, everyone built gorgeous pizzas. Cooking alongside fellow food bloggers was a highlight — it’s inspiring to share techniques and creativity with like-minded cooks.

We dined al fresco at a gorgeous tablescape of succulents and fresh blooms. Lunch featured several salads and flatbreads topped with Signature ingredients: fresh fruit, prosciutto, mozzarella and a spinach and tomato pasta salad among them. Conversation ranged from blogging and family life to cooking tips — and no one went away hungry.

Midday, Tiffani Thiessen joined us. She spoke candidly about her Cooking Channel series Dinner at Tiffani’s, family life, and her journey from television to food. Tiffani was warm and approachable — relaxed enough to swap her heels for flip-flops and even share candid stories about filming and favorite family recipes. She’s currently developing a cookbook, and it was exciting to hear about her love of cooking and entertaining firsthand.

Tiffani led a dessert demonstration that included a clever trick for perfectly portioned ice cream sandwiches: slice a pint of ice cream into one-inch sections with a sharp knife, then place the slices between cookies for neat, consistent servings. We sampled Signature ice creams in flavors like mint chocolate, vanilla, butter pecan and chocolate moose tracks paired with the softest Signature chocolate chip cookies — an irresistible combination. She also showed us how to make easy ice cream coffee floats, a fun grown-up twist that pairs coffee and dessert in one glass.

We ended the day in the backyard with Tiffani’s peach-infused sweet tea and a toast to the experience. She graciously posed for photos and shared stories, leaving us inspired to recreate many of the approachable recipes we tasted.
