Baby Emma’s Nursery Tour: Design Ideas and Photos

I’m so excited to finally share my daughter’s nursery! I’ve been meaning to post this for months, and I’m glad I was able to take photos and get everything organized so I could show you the finished space.

When I learned I was having a girl, I immediately wanted a feminine, beautiful room she could grow into. Creating a floral nursery was a joyful labor of love—the kind of room I had pictured for years. My aesthetic was inspired by designer Monika Hibbs and I’d had her daughter’s nursery saved for a long time. The floral wallpaper set the tone for the whole room and made everything come together.

Function was just as important to me as style. I wanted a pretty space, but also one that stayed practical as baby grows. Most of the larger furniture pieces are from Pottery Barn Kids, and I complemented them with smaller accents from a variety of sources. I prioritized pieces that will transition with Emma as she gets older.

The custom “Emma” sign hanging on the wall is one of my favorite keepsakes. It was a gift from friends at my baby shower, spray painted gold and signed on the back by everyone who attended. It’s sentimental and personal—small touches like that make a nursery feel special.

Organization is a must for me, so I use drawer organizers to keep everything tidy inside the dresser. The top drawers hold diapers, wipes, creams, lotions and medicine for easy access. The middle drawers are for burp cloths, bibs, washcloths, short-sleeve onesies, pants, socks and pacifiers. The larger bottom drawers store extra blankets, crib sheets and hooded towels. Having designated places for items makes daily routines smoother.

Designing the closet was a project I wanted to get right. The original closet was just a single wire shelf, and I wanted a functional system that would hold clothes plus diapers, toys and books. After researching closet companies, I chose Closets by Design for their pricing and options. I had a great experience and appreciated that they offered affordable solutions and frequent sales.

If you’re planning a closet remodel, I’m happy to share more about the process and what worked for us—feel free to reach out. Right now, Emma’s closet is more organized than mine, but it’s inspired me to update my own space soon. The closet holds baskets and bins that make storing extras simple and accessible.

I was nervous about installing wallpaper since I hadn’t done it before, but the floral pattern felt worth the risk. My father-in-law helped install it across two weekends, and the colors look even better in person. The wallpaper gives the room character and warmth, and I know Emma will enjoy it for years. I’ve included a detailed list of room and closet items below for reference.
